This week i have been doing primary research with my partner Chanel. We asked 10 people 5 questions related to BSR films and asked what we thought will help us in coming up with an idea. From our research, we fount out that most of the audience like to watch themes like violence, sex and crime, as this is what they told us and the most popular films that have been watch, was Kidulthood, Adulthood, Anuvahood and This is England, which all portray these films. Also we fount out that the audience relate and enjoy more to films where the main characters are roughly the same age, because they do more similar things as the target audience does. We also fount out what they thought of our rough idea, and most people said it was good however people thought it was too dramatic.
This will inform our production because we now have more understanding of what our target audience of 16-24 likes more, so we can target them more accurately and add in things that they would relate to and enjoy more, like adding in the themes they would like to see added more and making our character younger and more modern as that's what they relate to more, this will hopefully make our film more appealing to the audience and more people would want to watch it.
This week i also made a meet my audience PowerPoint slide, which is basically a perfect version of a person in my target audience that would watch the film. It describes the things they do, where they are from, what interests them, where they live and so on. This will help me in my production because it makes me more aware of what sort of things my target audience will do in their lives and so on, so i can make characters and storyline more relatable and appealing to them.
This week has helped me develop on my idea alot and the audience research, which can be seen on the primary research post, and it will be very useful for me as i can base my ideas on the research found from my audience and use what appeals the audience in my ideas to make them interested in my film. Overall i fount out more about my audience and have more understanding. This will result in a better film.
